Prometheus Sequel Targets 2014 or 2015 Release
SuperHeroHype reports:
Plans for a sequel to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus were rumored to be on the table before the 20th Century Fox project even began production, but today The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the studio is indeed moving forward with another science fiction thriller, planned to hit theaters in either 2014 or 2015.
Stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are both contracted to reprise their roles of David and Elizabeth Shaw, respectively. Writer Damon Lindelof, however, is not necessarily attached to return as screenwriter and the studio is said to be in talks with other writers to board the project.
Elysium at SDCC
Thanks to ComingSoon.net, here’s some new viral marketing material for Elysium, the new science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and starring Matt Damon (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum). Haven’t heard about this project yet? Here’s a quick synopsis from IMDB:
Set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy lives on a man-made space station while the rest of population reside on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

Prometheus Movie Review by Drewtos
Prometheus tells the story of two scientists and a crew of other who travel to a distant planet to find out more about the origin of humanity. Also, it’s a prequel to Alien.
Director Ridley Scott and writers Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof spin a tale that adds to and expands the Alien franchise and mythology in a very surprising way. I’d rather not go into too much detail but I will just say most hardcore Alien fans will like what the filmmakers did with this and will be just as surprised as I was.
Visually, the movie is stunning. During the opening credits we get some really beautiful landscape shots or Ireland, I believe, and it sets the tone for how beautifully shot the rest of the film is. In addition to the cinematography, the CGI and special effects are top notch. There is a nice blend of CGI and traditional effects that are reminiscent of those used in Alien or Aliens.
The cast is great, also. Michael Fassbender, as the android named David, was remarkable. I loved every moment he was on screen; watching his robotic characteristics. Charlize Theron was also very good. Her character was a total b*tch, for the most part, Theron and played it well. Other actors like Idris Elba and Noomi Rapace, especially, did a very good job. I felt very sympathetic to their situation and their struggle.
Overall, I loved this movie. I can’t wait to see it again on Blu-ray or maybe again in theaters. It ties into Ridley Scott’s original Alien film perfectly. I didn’t see it in 3D so I can’t comment on that, but I don’t think it would be worth seeing in 3D. Although, that’s something coming from someone who is tired of 3D altogether. Thumbs up from me. Alien fans, go see it.

Two new TV spots for Prometheus: watch now
Prometheus has released a pair of new TV spots, in which a little more is revealed of what Noomi Rapace and her team discover on their spacebound mission of discovery.
The new spots are largely made up of footage we’ve already seen, but there are a couple more glimpses of the creatures blithely referred to by Rapace as “engineers”, including something with a worrying number of tentacles…
BLU-NEWS: John Carter
Director Andrew Stanton’s (WALL-E, Finding Nemo) first live-action movie, John Carter, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 5th. A Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack and Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Back will be available and will contain the following special features:
- Disney Second Screen
- 360 Degrees of John Carter
- Deleted Scene with Option Commentary by Director Andrew Stanton
- Barsoom Bloopers
- 100 Years in the Making
- Audio Commentary with Film Maker
Although, I didn’t care much for this movie I have to give credit to Stanton and Disney for taking a chance on adapting a franchise that may be unfamiliar to many mainstream movie goers. It’s too bad the movie did so poorly in theaters, also. John Carter could have gone on to being a solid movie franchise if they were to do sequels. The movie is still worth checking out, though. I’d recommend at least renting it next month if you missed out while in was in theaters. Also, you can check out my full review of John Carter here.
